My grandfather Ralph M. Murray of South Boston,Ma. and his 3 brothers did not hesitate to sign up to serve their country in the summer of 1917. What I do know of my Papa and the brave men that fought alongside him came directly from him some 18 years after his death in 1972. As the family was making arrangements to sell his house in 1990, a discovery was made in the basement. On a table covered up was an old reel to reel recording machine. My uncle Leo had it processed and what we found forever impacted our lives. It was my grandfather's voice reciting his service record from the day he signed up til the day he came home! Papa kept a detailed journal complete with dates, training, campaigns, etc.. He wrote a story to his detailed journey full of emotions, smells, and vivid descriptions!
Ralph M. Murray, serial# 71,101 served in the 104th Infantry Regiment of the 26th 'Yankee Division" under Clarence Edwards. He and his men fought valiantly at "dead man's curve" in the Toul sector in early April of 1918. He then fought in the Aisne-Marne Offensive.
Geddis Henry Webster

Henry served with Company K, 38th Infantry Regiment. His unit was known for its service at the Second Battle of the Marne, earning it the designation "The Rock of the Marne." In September of 1918 Henry was gassed but survived.

Darwin Wentworth Soper served in World War 1 with the United States Army. The dates of service are: Known November 20, 1917-July 18, 1919.
Darwin served in the 339th Infantry Regiment, which took part in the Allied Intervention in the Russian Civil War. This campaign is sometimes called the "Polar Bear Expedition."
Ramchandra Dhondurao (R.D.) Shelke

Ramchandra Dhondurao (R.D.) Shelke served in World War 1 with the the United States Army. The dates of service are: Known December 1917 to August 25, 1919.
Ramchandra Dhondurao (R. D.) Shelke was born on April 15, 1891 in Kolhapur, British India. He arrived in New York on July 31, 1914 aboard Hamburg from Naples, to pursue an education. Later in life he would obtain a bachelors in chemical engineering.
After arriving in New York City R.D. Shelke made his way to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On December 15, 1914, at age of 23 R. D. Shelke declared his allegiance to the United States at the U.S District Court of Western District of Pennsylvania.
On July 5, 1917 R. D. Shelke was drafted in the U.S Army. He was stationed at Camp Lee, Virginia from September 23, 1917 to December 1917. The August 1918 issue of the newspaper and journal Young India featured him with other Indians serving in the U.S Armed Forces. He served in the Supply Company 30th Infantry 3rd Division from December 1917 to August 25, 1919.
Daniel Decatur Cross Jr.

Daniel Decatur Cross Jr. served in World War 1 with the the United States Army Air Corps. The dates of service are: Known December 20, 1917-December 16, 1918.
He served as a mechanic with the 333rd Aero Squadron in England. His unit was one of the first to return to America aboard the RMS Mauretania in December of 1918.
Darrel F. Barstow

Darrel F. Barstow served in World War 1 with the United States Marine Corps. The dates of service are: Known June 1917 to August 1919.
According to Minnesota state and federal war records, Darrel enlisted June 6, 1917 as a private in the Marines. He arrived in France on May 6, 1918. His joined combat action on June 8, 1918 at Belleau Wood. He was discharged from service on August 11, 1919.
Darrel returned to Minnesota and ran a general store, dying in 1965 at the age of 71, according to his obituary.

George William Muller served in World War 1 with the United States Army. The dates of service are: Known 10 Oct 1917 - 15 Jan 1919.
My great uncle served in the US Army in WW1. Service number1696020. He was inducted at #55 New York on 10 Oct 1917. He served with Co K., 305th Inf., 77th Div until discharged on 15 Jan 1919.
He was severely wounded 4 Oct 1918 in Argonne? He was buried in L.I. National Cemetery, sec O, site 36890, Farmingdale, L.I., New York on 16 Dec 1952.
