New Jersey WW1 Centennial web site goes live
Congratulations New Jersey! The New Jersey World War I Centennial Committee’s website is now live at WW1CC.org/newjersey. At the new "New Jersey and The Great War" web site you will find  New Jersey WWI Stories, events, a very detailed map of World War I monuments, memorials, and historic sites found throughout the state, and a great section of facts about NJ and WWI.
The NJ development team will be joining us for the Sync-Call this coming Wednesday to tell you more about their state program. We invite you to register for the Weekly Sync-Call. New Jersey joins a growing number of state sites hosted by the U.S. World War One Centennial Commission. To see the other states’ sites, mouse over the “Participate” drop-down menu at the top of any page.
Commission talks WW1 at American Legion confab
Staff members from the World War 1 Centennial Commission and the Pritzker Military Museum & Library, and volunteers from Ohio and elsewhere continue to man the Commission booth at the 2016 American Legion National convention in Cincinnati, OH, that continues through August 31. The team is talking about the 100 Cities / 100 Memorials project, which has been officially endorsed by the American Legion. If you are in the exhibit hall, please come by and say hello, pick up a poster, some poppy seed packs and learn all about the program.

100 Cities / 100 Memorials grant submission deadline extended to July 15, 2017
The $200,000 matching grant giveaway program is being received with huge excitement everywhere. Veterans Service Organizations, civic groups and many others have contacted us with great enthusiasm for participating in the program.
 Along with the interest has come a very consistent concern about the short time available for participants to identify, plan, organize and submit projects for matching grant consideration.
The consistent request for more time to ID and prep project submissions makes tremendous sense to the program sponsors. In response we are happy to announce that we are extending the submission deadline from November 11, 2016, all the way to June 15, 2017 (midnight EDT).

Mobile WW1 Museum serving seniors, students
When Keith Colley visited the National World War 1 Museum in Kansas City, he had an inspiration:  Why not build a “mobile museum” to take the history of the Great War to senior citizens across America, members of the last generation who might have had a direct ancestor in the war? Action followed inspiration, and today the traveling museum is taking the story of America and World War 1 to senior retirement communities and assisted living facilities nationwide. However, the audience for the museum has grown to include colleges and schools as well. Read more about this inspired effort to tell the American WW1 story.
Yockelson to talk Pershing at National Book Fest
Dr. Mitchell Yockelson, a member of the World War 1 Centennial Commission's Historical Advisory Board, will be featured at the  16th Anniversary National Book Festival, Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at the Washington Convention Center. Yockelson will lecture on General Pershing as the commander of the American Expeditionary Forces. Referencing his recent book on the AEF, he will discuss how, through excellent leadership, the Americans accomplished what the French and British failed to do over the preceding four years: defeat the German Army.
