Saturday, April 20, 2019, 02:00pm - 03:00pm

About The Event

An American Soldier in the Great War
Dates: Saturday, April 20, 2019 02:00pm - 03:00pm

In 1917, U.S.military forces deployed to France and contributed significantly to the Allied defeat of Imperial Germany along the Western Front in 1918. "The War to End All Wars" -World War 1- was the largest, most, destructive war in humane history up to that point. More that a century later,as the country looks back, it is important to develop a deeper connection to the the hearts and minds of two million American soldiers sent overseas to fight in this major conflict.Private First Class Elmer O. Smith of Michigan was one of those brave soldiers.

Author Mark Rudd will speak at the Michigan Military Heritage Museum 153 N. Union St.Grass Lake, MI 94240 from 2-3pm on Saturday April 20.
