About The Event

The First World War, also known as the Great War, was fought from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. The United States officially entered the war on April 6, 1917. 

Joe Bilby will give an overview of the events leading up to the war, the war itself, and the impact of the conflict on New Jersey and local communities. There are two presentations of the talk, at 1 p.m. and at 3 p.m.

Joe Bilby is part-time Assistant Curator of the new Jersey National Guard and Militia Museum in Sea Girt, New Jersey and a freelance writer and historic consultant. He is the author, editor and co-author of 21 books and over 400 articles on New Jersey history and folklore, military history and outdoor subjects in both Internet and print venues, and also a columnist for the The Civil War News and New Jersey Sportsmen News.
