Author and professor of English at Centenary University, Lisa Mastrangelo will be talking about the rhetoric used during the time of war to keep women from being active on the World War I fronts. Motherhood and Materialism were used by media and government to urge them to stay home and take care of the children here. This is taken from her paper: The Rhetoric of Materialism: The Use of Motherhood as a Trope in World War I.
