New Jersey and the Great War - New Jersey Historical Commission Public History Conference

From Friday, November 03, 2017
To Saturday, November 04, 2017

About The Event

The New Jersey Historical Commission will mark the World War I Centennial and the 100th Birthday of Fort Dix with a full day of presentations and activities to be held at the Joint Base Maguire Dix Lakehurst, or what was established in 1917 as Camp Dix. This historic base, which was one of sixteen military training facilities created that year to support the war effort, continued to provide training to thousands of men and women throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, including approximately 227,000 between 2001 and 2015. The event will include tours and presentations on New Jersey during World War I, as well as the rich history of Fort Dix itself. Full event details will be available June 2017 at www.history.nj.gov.
