In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I, Morris County Historical Society offers a provocative exhibit highlighting The Great War’s impact on Morris County. The new exhibit 1917: World War, Women’s Rights, and Weaponry Sciences, displayed throughout Acorn Hall, will be available from Sunday, February 19 through Sunday, June 25, 2017. Stories of Morris County’s brave men and women during the WWI era will be complimented by authentic WWI uniforms, weaponry and militaria, period clothing, and ephemera.

Hudson Maxim - WWI-Era Inventor Presentation

The Morris County Historical Society is proud to announce Mr. Martin Kane, local historian, author, and president of the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum, will give a special presentation on Hudson Maxim, Tuesday, March 28 at 6 p.m. at MCHS’s Acorn Hall in Morristown. Mr. Kane will share little known information on Hudson Maxim, a highly respected, local innovator who held a patent for smokeless gunpowder, invented a variety of high explosives, and designed a torpedo-proof ship. WWI Remembrance of Legacy Exhibit

The Library Company of Burlington will join many other libraries throughout New Jersey, exhibiting various aspects of World War I as the nation commemorates the Centennial of World War I. While exhibit space is somewhat limited at the Library Company, historian Erik L. Burro and Library Director, Sharon Vincz, decided to honor the American Doughboy, in a photo tribute to those who contributed to the ultimate victory “over there”. WWI Commemoration Event

Wharton, NJ, February 15, 2017 – A World War I Commemoration Event will be held in the Post Hall at the William J. Hocking American Legion Post 91, 99 North Main Street, Wharton, NJ, on Saturday, April 1, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature artifacts from museums and private collectors, audio and visual presentations from historians and by re-enactors from across New Jersey will occur throughout the afternoon.
