World War One Cartoons

During the First World War cartoons were used to support or oppose Government policies and the war. Louis Raemaekers, a Dutch cartoonist became famous doing this while Bruce Bairnsfahter, an English cartoonist, showed the world what life was like in the trenches with his cartoons of "Old Bill". The American Expeditionary Force had it's own cartoon character name "Wally" who was drawn by Stars and Stripes artist Abian Wallgren.
