Lawrence and Leo Budny - Sons of Joseph Budny and Franciszka Tomaszewski Budny

Joseph Budny and Franciszka Tomaszewski were married in 1881 in Kruszwica, Inowroclaw, Kujawski-Pomorskie, Poland. The family emigrated to America in 1891, when Larry (Vladislaw) was 5 years old.  Leo (Leopold) was born in Rochester, NY, in 1893. Their father was a shoemaker by trade and they belonged to St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish.

  In 1918, the brothers were living at the same address; Leo was called to serve on May 26th, and Larry on June 27th. They were deployed overseas within months of each other. They returned to Rochester in 1919.

Larry S. Budny served in World War I in the United States Army.

The enlistment was in June  27, 1918. The service was completed  May 14, 1919. 

Larry Stanley Budney entered the service at Rochester, N. Y., June 27,1918, at the age of 32 years, as Private, being assigned to Company D, 346th Infantry. Served overseas from Aug. 24, 1918 to April 27, 1919. Larry married Anna Ceterski (1900-1929) on May 31, 1919. She was the daughter of Simon Ceterski and Frances Stepinski. They had four children together. He then married Florence (Loryntina) Lukomski (1902-1975) on November 8, 1929, in Buffalo. He was 74 when he died and is buried in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga, New York.

 Leo C. Budney - Rochester, New York   

Leo C. Budney served in World War 1 in the United States Army.                                                     

The enlistment was in May 26, 1918, and the service was completed January 21, 1919.

Leo C. Budney entered the service at Rochester, N. Y.,  May 26, 1918, at the age of 23 years, as Private, being assigned to Company 36, 153d Depot Brigade. Trained at Camp Dix, Wrightstown, N. J. Transferred to Company K,  345th Infantry on June 27, 1918. Served overseas from Aug. 26, 1918 to Dec. 28, 1918. Promoted, Private 1st Class, Oct 1,1918. Discharged, Jan. 21, 1919.

Leo married Stella Kaleta (1898-1992) on August 29, 1921. She was the daughter of Joseph Kaleta and Josephine Jaworska of Buffalo, NY.  He worked as a shoemaker and later at Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. Leo died June 10, 1978 at the age of 85. He is buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester, NY,  with his wife and son.
