Idaho World War Centennial Commission

The Idaho World War 1 Centennial Commission came into being 3 months after the national celebration of the 100th Anniversary of America's Entry into what is now called the First World War or "the War to End All Wars."  There was no established organization or state agency set up to cover the nineteenth months of educational events taking place during the WW1 Centennial (April 2017-November 2018.)  Idaho History Museum had designated the 2018 Idaho Day program as a tribute to 

Co-founders Frank W. Krone III and K.C. Picard were fresh from chairing the Idaho Civil War Sesquicentennial (2013-2015), and had worked with former Attorney General and Lt. Governor David Leroy to assemble the 2-part  tribute to Abraham Lincoln on the 150th Anniversary of his assassination held at the Idaho State Capitol and at the Idaho State Archives on April 14-15 2015. Idaho's pioneer cemeteries contain large dedicated areas filled with military issue headstones of Idaho's beloved doughboys. The distance of a century from this event has erased the service and sacrifices that the valiant men and women of our nation gladly endured to ensure that the Great War was the War to end all wars
